Uncharted Magazine Cinematic Short Story Contest

We invite writers to submit to the Uncharted Magazine Cinematic Short Story Contest. This award is for all of our genres: Science Fiction/Fantasy, Thriller/Mystery (Horror), Historical Fiction, and Young Adult. The guest judge will choose three winning stories from our shortlist. We’re excited to offer the first-place winner of this contest $2,000 and publication, while the second- and third-place winners will receive publication and $300 and $200, respectively. Voyage YA by Uncharted Butterfly Effect Challenge
March 10 – March 30, 2025
For this challenge Voyage YA by Uncharted welcomes authors to submit their fiction and creative nonfiction as it pertains to the butterfly effect. The butterfly effect is when something small creates much larger effects, rippling across time and terrain in unexpected ways. (Read more here!) First place winner will receive $500 and publication.
Uncharted Magazine Novel Excerpt Prize
April 14 – June 15, 2025
We’re looking for the best 5,000 words or fewer of your novel in progress! Have a favorite chapter? An exciting and noteworthy prologue? A section where the dialogue crackles and the characters loom larger than life on the page? Give us a chance to read the most captivating section of your novel—and make us want to read more! We’re excited to offer the first-place winner of this contest $3,000 and publication, while the second- and third-place winners will receive publication and $300 and $200, respectively. Judge TBA.
